Hi, I'm Kristina, a photographer and designer originally from Slovakia. A few years ago, my now-husband, Emilio, brought me to Galicia, where he's from.
I didn't expect to fall for this part of the world so quickly. I've become one of Galicia's biggest cheerleaders and will happily recommend it to anyone who is planning to visit Spain.
When I discovered Cangas — a little fishing village that felt wonderfully local, full of history, surrounded by 30 beautiful beaches and forests, and just a short boat ride from the city — I knew I wanted to have a place here.
In 2026, I found an older apartment on the top floor of a building in the heart of Cangas, with bright rooms opening up to the sky and the sea just a 10-minute walk away. It felt right. So I started designing and renovating it, room by room, slowly turning it into Cielo.
Cielo became our second home in Galicia. I often stay here with Emilio and our dog, Otto, and now I'm happy to share it with guests too.
I run Cielo myself — no agency, no platform, no middleman. When you write to book, you're writing directly to me.
Cielo is a guesthouse built around shared space and a sense of community. There are private rooms when you want your own time, and shared spaces when you feel like being around people. Come for a coffee, stay for a conversation, share a meal, swap recommendations, or simply see who you meet.
The living room is the heart of Cielo. Comfortable sofas, books, good light, and a balcony just outside — the perfect spot for morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening. It's a space for slow mornings, long conversations, movie nights, and doing very little, which is sometimes exactly what a holiday is for.
A fully equipped kitchen where guests can cook, share meals, and feel at home. Everything you need is here — from making your morning coffee to preparing fresh seafood, or putting together a long dinner with friends.
Bright yellow tiles and a thoughtful design make the shared bathroom a cheerful little space to start and end the day. It's clean, well-stocked, and shared with the other guests.
Cangas has a strong connection to the sea, and you feel it as soon as you walk through the old town. Cobblestone streets lead down towards the harbour, passing centuries-old houses and sunny squares where people gather for coffee, lunch or a drink. Fishing is still part of everyday life here, and the ría is dotted with bateas — the traditional floating mussel farms that have been part of the landscape for generations. It's this connection to the water that also shapes the food: seafood is at the heart of the local table, whether you're eating at a small restaurant in the old town or sitting by the sea with a glass of local Albariño or an Estrella Galicia.
The town has a relaxed, local rhythm. Markets, neighbourhood bars and fiestas bring people into the streets throughout the year, and there's always a reason to linger a little longer.
Around Cangas, nature is never far away. Beaches line the coast on both sides of town, while green forests rise behind them. You can walk along the water with the Cíes Islands on the horizon, take a morning swim at Playa de Rodeira, or head into the forest for a longer walk. The ría is also made for being on the water — paddleboarding, kayaking and windsurfing are all part of summer here.
And when you want to explore further, Vigo is just a 25-minute ferry ride away, while the vineyards and small villages of the Rías Baixas are within easy reach. Cangas makes a good base for seeing more of Galicia, but it's also the kind of place where you might happily spend a few days without going very far.
